Tillard Chair: Fr Alois, Prior of the Community of Taizé

On Friday 20 January, Fr Alois, Prior of the Community of Taizé, delivered at the Angelicum a lecture entitled "The practice of unity at Taizé – Seeking to live as brothers for one another & Anticipating the reconciliation of Christians".

The lecture was held within the context of the "Tillard Chair 2022-2023" dedicated to the theme "Christian Unity and Reconciliation".

The "Tillard Chair", inaugurated by Cardinal Walter Kasper in 2003, is organized by the Institute of Ecumenical Studies of the Angelicum under the patronage of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity.

Professor Marcus Plested, of Marquette University (USA), delivered the eighth lecture of the 2021 “Tillard Chair” on Friday 17 December 2021.

The lecture, entitled “Synodality and Christian Unity: A Contemporary Orthodox Perspective” is available on the Youtube channel of the Angelicum. For access to zoom link: ecumenism@pust.it

The cycle of lectures of the 2021 Tillard Chair on the theme “Walking Together. Synodality and Christian Unity” is jointly organized by the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and the Institute for Ecumenical Studies of the Angelicum.

The previous speakers of the 2021 Tillard Chair have been: Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Deacon Alessandra Trotta, His Grace Rowan Williams, Emeritus Archbishop of Canterbury, Bishop Giacomo Morandi, Reverend Dr Martin Junge, Reverend Sister Nathalie Becquart, and Professor Myriam Wijlens.

Forthcoming speakers will be: Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio, Revd Professor Patriciu Vlaicu, Professor Barbara Hallensleben, Professor Arnaud Join-Lambert, Revd Professor Benoit-Dominique de La Soujeole, OP.
