From 25 to 28 November 2022 representatives of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and of the Office for International Ecumenical Relations of the Salvation Army met in London at the William Booth Training College, in the first of a new series of Conversations, on the theme: “Discipleship for Mission”. The Chairs for this second round of meetings are Bishop Brendan Leahy (Limerick, Ireland) and Commissioner Jane Paone, Secretary for International Ecumenical Relations. Bishop Brian Farrell represented the Dicastery.
A first series of Conversations took place between 2007 and 2012, and the papers and reports were published in “Conversations with the Catholic Church. A record of the papers presented and recommendations made during the informal dialogue between The Catholic Church and The Salvation Army”, published by Salvation Books, London, 2014.
On the final day of this latest meeting the participants visited the International Headquarters of the Salvation Army and held a very fruitful exchange with the Chief of Staff, Commissioner Lyndon Buckingham.
