Tillard Chair: “God Reconciles us in Christ”. The new report of the Catholic‒Methodist dialogue

The first lecture of the 2022-2023 cycle of the Tillard Chair on the theme “Christian Unity and Reconciliation” was held on Friday 7 October .

The conference, which took place in Aula 11 of the Angelicum University from 5.30 to 7.00pm, was a presentation of the latest document of the Methodist‒Catholic International Commission entitled “God in Christ Reconciling: On the Way to Full Communion in Faith, Sacraments, and Mission”.

Speakers included Revd Dr Edgardo Colón–Emeric (Duke Divinity School, USA), Professor Catherine E. Clifford (Saint Paul University, Canada), Dr Clare Watkins (University of Roehampton, England), Revd Dr Hermen Shastri (Malaysia). Bishop Shane Mackinlay (Sandhurst, Australia) will moderate.

The “Tillard Chair" dedicated to ecumenism was inaugurated in 2003 by Cardinal Walter Kasper at the Angelicum in honour of the renowned theologian and ecumenist Jean-Marie Tillard, OP (1927-2000). The initiative is jointly organized by the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and the Angelicum Institute of Ecumenical Studies.
