Visit of delegation of Eritrean Tewahedo Orthodox Church

On 19 May 2022 a delegation of the Eritrean Tewahedo Orthodox Church, led by Archbishop Abune Paolos, Exarch for Europe, accompanied by Deacon Girmay Zeray Asmeron, of the Patriarchal Secretariat, visited the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.

The delegation, which had participated in the Inter‒Orthodox Pre‒Assembly Consultation organized from 9‒16 May in Cyprus by the World Council of Churches, was received by Reverend Father Hyacinthe Destivelle, staff member responsible for the Oriental Orthodox Churches.

The meeting offered an opportunity for an exchange on relations between the Eritrean Tewahedo Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church.
