Third day of 2022 PCPCU Plenary Assembly

5 May 2022

On Thursday 5 May, the third day of the PCPCU Plenary Assembly, members and consultors discussed two further topics related to the general theme of the meeting.

The morning session was dedicated to an exchange on “Nicaea, A Model of Synodality” featuring an online presentation by His Grace Rowan Williams, Archbishop Emeritus of Canterbury. The participants subsequently reflected in language groups on the questions, “How to mark the 1700th anniversary of Nicaea? A synodal event in 2025? Is synodality possible among divided Christians?”

The afternoon was dedicated to the ecumenical dimension of the 2021-2023 synodal process, with an introductory report by His Eminence Cardinal Mario Grech, Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops, followed by an exchange in language groups on the theme “Proposals for improving the ecumenical dimension of the synodal process”.
