Second day of 2022 PCPCU Plenary Assembly

4 May 2022

On Wednesday 4 May, the second day of the PCPCU Plenary Assembly, members and consultors discussed two topics related to the general theme of the meeting.

The morning was dedicated to an exchange on “The Faith of Nicaea: A Signpost for Christian Unity" with an online presentation by Professor Jennifer Wasmuth of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover, a professor at the University of Göttingen. This was followed by a reflection in language groups on the question “How can the anniversary of Nicaea help to build communion among the Churches around the common profession of faith?”

The afternoon was dedicated to “A common date for Easter: A status quaestionis on the ecumenical discussion”, with an online presentation by Professor Paul Meyendorff of the Orthodox Church in America, Emeritus Professor of St Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary.

The day concluded in streaming with His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk, PCPCU member, with participants discussing the ecumenical consequences of the situation in Ukraine.
