Tillard Chair: Professor Myriam Wijlens, Consultor to Synod of Bishops

Professor Myriam Wijlens, of the Univesity of Erfurt (Germany), Consultor to the Synod of Bishops, will deliver the seventh lecture of the 2021 “Tillard Chair” on Friday 19 November 2021.

The lecture, entitled “The Church of God is Convoked in Synod: Theological and Canonical Challenges Concerning the 2021‒2023 Synod” will be held from 5.30‒7.00 pm at the Angelicum (Aula Minor) and will also be available by live streaming on the Youtube channel of the Angelicum.

The cycle of lectures of the 2021 Tillard Chair on the theme “Walking Together. Synodality and Christian Unity” is jointly organized by the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and the Institute of Ecumenical Studies of the Angelicum.

The previous speakers of the 2021 Tillard Chair have been: Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Deacon Alessandra Trotta, His Grace Rowan Williams, Emeritus Archbishop of Canterbury, Bishop Giacomo Morandi, Reverend Dr Martin Junge, and Reverend Sister Nathalie Becquart.

Forthcoming speakers will be: Professor Marcus Plested, Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio, Revd Professor Patriciu Vlaicu, Professor Barbara Hallensleben, Professor Arnaud Join-Lambert, Revd Professor Benoit-Dominique de La Soujeole, OP.

The "Tillard Chair" dedicated to ecumenism was inaugurated in 2003 by Cardinal Walter Kasper at the Angelicum in honour of the renowned theologian and ecumenist, Jean-Marie Tillard, OP (1927-2000).
