Visit of new leadership of World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC)

On 7 September Cardinal Kurt Koch, together with the Secretary, Under-Secretary and two officials of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, welcomed Reverend Dr Hanns Lessing (Evangelical Church of Westphalia), Acting General Secretary; Reverend Philip Vinod Peacock (Church of North India), Acting General Secretary for Programmes; and Mr Phil Tanis (Reformed Church in America), Acting General Secretary for Communications, who commenced their service on 1 September 2021.

During the exchange they discussed the association of WCRC to the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification, and the possibility of it developing into new forms of cooperation among the Christian communities. The Acting Secretaries also affirmed that WCRC is committed to discerning, confessing eternal truth, witnessing and being Reformed together. This process translates into an alliance for promoting justice and the commitment to transformative theology, together with Christians of other traditions.
