Students of Centro Melantone summer course visit PCPCU

1 Sep 2021

On 31 August 2021, an international group of 21 Protestant theology students, led by Reverend Vanessa Bayha (Director of Studies at the Centro Melantone in Rome), and Professor Dr Martin Wallraff (Protestant Theological Faculty of the University of Munich) visited the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. The annual theological summer course for theology students, organised by the Centro Melantone, has as its priority the fostering of ecumenical contacts. In the meeting with Reverend Father Augustinus Sander, OSB, PCPCU staff member, the focus was on questions related to Catholic–Lutheran dialogue, with discussion on the meaning of the Eucharist, the understanding of the episcopate and the different ecumenical models of church unity. In view of the 500th anniversary of the Augsburg Confession in 2030, its ecumenical potential was given special emphasis.
