Meeting of Pope Francis with His Holiness Ignatius Aphrem II

On 30 June His Holiness Ignatius Aphrem II, Syrian Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, was received by the Holy Father in a private audience.

The Patriarch, accompanied by His Eminence Mor Justinos Boulos Safar, Patriarchal Vicar of Zahleh and Beqaa, and His Grace Joseph Bali, was in the Vatican on the invitation of the Holy Father to take part in the Day of Reflection and Prayer for Lebanon on 1 July 2021.

In January 2020 His Holiness Ignatius Aphrem II hosted the 17th meeting of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches at the patriarchal residence in Atchaneh, Lebanon.

The last visit to the Vatican of His Holiness Ignatius Aphrem took place on 19 June 2015.
