Disciples of Christ – Catholic International Commission: Introductory Meeting

30 Jun 2021

In order to dialogue it is necessary to meet, to listen, and to trust. On 25 June 2021, the new Disciples of Christ – Catholic International Commission held an Introductory Meeting aimed at getting to know one another, and at listening to each other’s faith stories, as well to the expectations for the dialogue of the new members and the experience of the dialogue of the continuing members.

Inaugurated in 1977, this dialogue has the goal of full visible unity as its main objective. The Introductory Meeting was presided over by two Co–Presidents: Most Reverend David L. Ricken, Bishop of Green Bay, WI, USA, and Reverend Dr Robert Welsh, former General Secretary of Christian Unity Council of the Disciples of Christ. Participants attended from Australia, Canada, Italy, United Kingdom and USA. A second meeting to study and adopt a Proposal for this sixth phase of dialogue, entitled “The Ministry of the Holy Spirit” (2 Cor 3), is planned for September 2021.
