The Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity expresses deep sympathy and condolences on learning of the death of Reverend Dr Paul Crow on 23 January. Our thoughts are with his wife, family, friends and with the communion of the Disciples of Christ whom he served with devotion.
Reverend Dr Crow was a very active leader in the ecumenical movement. As President of the “Council on Christian Unity” of the Disciples of Christ (1974–1998), he contributed to establishing the International Commission for Dialogue between the Disciples of Christ and the Catholic Church, on which he served as Co–Chair for the first three phases (1977–2002). A tireless worker for Christian unity and prolific author, he also served on the Faith and Order Commission, the Ecumenical Institute of Bossey and the World Council of Churches, in which capacities he was always a valued partner to the Catholic Church.
