Agreement of ecumenical collaboration between the Angelicum and the International Hellenic University

27 Jan 2021

On the eve of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Very Reverend Father Michal Pałuch, OP, Rector of the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (Rome), and Professor Athanassio Kaissis, President of the International Hellenic University (IHU, Thessaloniki), signed a protocol of collaboration between the Institute of Ecumenical Studies of the Angelicum and the Master in Orthodox Ecumenical Theology Programme of the IHU.

The aim of the protocol is to develop research in ecumenical theology and Catholic–Orthodox academic collaboration, particularly through seminars and workshops for teaching staff and students, study visits, academic conferences, doctoral and post–doctoral programmes. A first project will focus on the impact of the pandemic on ecumenical relations.

The Master in Orthodox Ecumenical Theology Programme of the International Hellenic University, directed by Emeritus Professor Petros Vassiliadis, has been organized under the mandate of His All Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I. The Institute of Ecumenical Studies of the Angelicum, under the patronage of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, was inaugurated in 2019 by His Eminence Cardinal Kurt Koch.
