Video message of Cardinal Koch for “United World Week”

12 May 2020

Cardinal Kurt Koch sent a video message to the “United World Week”, which is held annually from 1–7 May gathering teenagers, young people and adults from different parts of the world. Through actions, events, conferences and cultural debates they aim to have an impact on public opinion by bearing witness together that a united world is possible.

The initiative was launched in May 1995 by Chiara Lubich, founder of the Focolare Movement.

Due to the health emergency, the “United World Week” was held online this year. The event commenced on 1 May with a prayer in direct streaming prepared by Orthodox, Lutheran, Reformed, Pentecostal and Catholic Christians of different nations. Cardinal Kurt’s message concluded the prayer moment, and took up the Week’s theme “In time for peace”.

A video message from the Acting General Secretary of the World Council of Churches, Reverend Professor Ioan Sauca, was also transmitted during the prayer.
