28 Jun 2021

On Sunday, 27 June 2021, the President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, Cardinal Kurt Koch, delivered the homily in the Evangelical Lutheran Christ Church in Rome. The occasion was the feast of the two apostles, Saints Peter and Paul, whom Cardinal Koch spoke of as an "ecumenical pairing".

In addition to various ecumenical representatives, the service was attended by many official delegates of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Germany (VELKD) and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Italy. The President of the LWF, Archbishop Musa, addressed the congregation. The Presiding Bishop of the VELKD, Bishop Meister from Hanover, presided at the communion service, assisted by Archbishop Jäckelén from Sweden.
