28 Apr 2020

In a letter sent on 23 April, His Beatitude Daniel, Archbishop of Bucharest and Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, expressed gratitude to Pope Francis for the medical equipment he donated to the St John the New Hospital in Suceava, Romania. The gift of five ventilators together with other equipment including masks and protective clothing was donated on the feast day of Saint George, the name day of Pope Francis.

The Suceava county has been particularly affected by the coronavirus pandemic, recording almost a quarter of all Covid–19 cases in Romania and the highest number of victims.
